KUWAIT 28 OCT: Among the tears and laughter of the entertainment file in the country, the continuation of the closure of the Omariya Zoo in the Omariya area, by a decision of the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources, since March 2020, as a precautionary measure to prevent the outbreak of Covid 19 and limit its spread at that time.
Despite this closure, the Agriculture Authority is committed to its keenness to maintain the garden facilities and take care of all kinds of animals and birds on a periodic basis, to ensure that none of them die, and thus incur huge financial losses.
According to informed sources in the authority, it obtained approvals from the regulatory authorities recently regarding awarding a tender for the purchase and supply of various foods for the garden to a company, at a cost of up to 459,000 dinars, indicating that it will contribute to feeding the species and species of animals and birds in it, especially with the cessation of the park’s reception of visitors. for a long time, and to ensure that it is not affected by this suspension.
Opening date:
The sources informed Al-Qabas that no date has yet been set for reopening the doors of the Omariya Zoo, due to the failure to complete the work required within the comprehensive maintenance work for it, despite the many inquiries received to the management of the park by citizens and residents who flock to it in the morning and evening to ask about the date of its reopening. It covers an area of about 180,000 square meters and is filled with many types of animals, birds and reptiles, in addition to the presence of a "revolving train” that tours its visitors on the green spaces, where it received on the first day of any holiday or holiday about 2,000 visitors per day.
She pointed out that the animals and birds inside were not affected by any diseases or losses during the closure of the park more than two years ago, due to the availability of a contract with a company to supply food inside cages throughout that period.
Maintenance work:
The sources indicated that the modernization of the infrastructure, electrical installations, refrigeration equipment, and others, is one of the main reasons for delaying setting a date until now for its resumption of receiving visitors again.
She stated that the park was considered one of the recreational sites where large numbers of visitors flock to it before its closure, as it contributes to providing educational means that help enrich the awareness aspect about the environment and wild species for children and adults, in addition to organizing seasonal parties through the open day that participates In it, the owners of talents and handicrafts, explaining that the veterinarians and the observers in the veterinary clinic department conduct the necessary immunizations against animal diseases specific to each species.
